Preserving The Legacy
The Friends of `Iolani Palace organization supports, guides, and manages Palace activities, providing caring stewardship for this Hawaiian landmark and national treasure. It currently administers the Palace under a lease with the State of Hawai`i.
Mrs. Lili`uokalani Kawananakoa Morris, grandniece of Queen Kapi`olani, founded The Friends of `Iolani Palace in 1966. Since that time, The Friends has supported and guided the restoration and management of the Palace building by obtaining donations and grant monies, spearheading efforts to acquire original Palace furnishings, many of which have been scattered throughout the world, and actively managing and assisting with Palace activities.
The Friends is also dedicated to preserving the history of the Hawaiian monarchy and to providing visitors with a fresh understanding of Hawaii's royal heritage.

Mission Statement
E mālama, ho`iho`i hou, wehewehe, kā`ana a ho`ohiwahiwa i ke`ano laha `ole o ka mo`omeheu, ka mō`aukala a me ka mana o ka Hale Ali`i `o `Iolani a me kona pā no ka pono o ke kānaka `ōiwi a me ka po`e o Hawai`i nei a me kō ke ao nei. To preserve, restore, interpret, share, and celebrate the unique cultural, historical, and spiritual qualities of `Iolani Palace and its grounds for the benefit of native Hawaiians, the people of Hawai`i, and the world.
