Say Hauʻoli Lā Hānau e Kalākaua during a special celebration honoring King Kalākaua’s birthday and legacy.

The community is invited to gather on the Palace grounds for a performance by the Royal Hawaiian Band and a review of the Royal Guard. Guests will also see ʻIolani Palace decorated as it was for the King’s 50th birthday. Kamaʻāina are invited to experience the Palace through a free self-led audio tour.

A traveler, innovator and renaissance man, King Kalākaua shared Hawaiʻi with the world while encouraging a renewed sense of pride among his people. During his reign, ʻIolani Palace was built as a symbol of a modern and sovereign Hawaiian nation. His legacy continues to influence Hawaiʻi and the world today.
