Hear Hawaii Workshops

Iolani Palace’s new partnership with Hear Hawaii will provide exciting opportunities for guests to dive deeper into the culture of our islands. Monthly workshops held by Hear Hawaii will bring Hawaiian voices and stories to life in Iolani Palace’s Hale Koa (Barracks) Theatre Room every second Saturday of the month. The workshops, held from noon to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., are free to attend and open to all ages.

Space is limited to 20 students per class, so be sure to register early! Here’s the list of upcoming topics.

  • October 8: Local Superstitions - Myths and Legends of Old Hawaii
  • November 12: La Kuokoa (Hawaiian Independence Day)
  • December 10: Lonoikamakahiki (Hawaiian New Year)

About Kumu Anuhea Kanealii

Classes are led by Hear Hawaii founder, Kumu Anuhea Kanealii, an Oahu Native with a passion for perpetuating the Hawaiian culture. Kanealii currently serves as the director of learning engagement with The Friends of Iolani Palace and continues her cultural education as a student of Hale Haumea, a collective of Indigenous women reclaiming their ancestral mana.
