Kaana Ike Spotlight Talks
DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE LAUNCH OF THIS EVENT SERIES HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
In an effort to share the knowledge and insights of Palace staff and volunteers with guests, Iolani Palace proudly presents Kaana Ike Spotlight Talks, a free learn-at-lunch public discussion series on the third Wednesday of the month.
The free Kaana Ike Spotlight Talks will take place from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in Rumi Aina, the video room in the Hale Koa building (Barracks) on the Palace grounds. Participants are welcome to bring their lunch with them.
People across the world will celebrate Tartan Day on April 6. This year parks the 400th year of the signing of the Declaration of Arborath, a document created by Scottish nobles that influenced the writings of the Hawaiian Kingdom’s first constitution. This talk will focus on the many contributions Scots made to the islands and to the Hawaiian Kingdom.
Our beloved Queen conducted herself with a quiet dignity befitting her royal rank, and she was always impeccably dressed. This talk will highlight Queen Kapiolani’s royal style, including her regal coronation gown and celebrated peacock gown.
This presentation will illuminate how The Friends of Iolani Palace came into existence. In addition to a historical background of the non-profit organization, Cup Choy will share interesting stories about volunteers, guests and the restoration project that helped bring to life the experiences of those who have given their aloha to Iolani Palace.
