Honoring Princess Abigail Kawānanakoa
Mahalo to all who joined us at ʻIolani Palace to honor Princess Abigail Kawānanakoa on January 22, 2023. It was a historic moment for Hawai‘i. She has been laid to rest Mauna ʻAla in Nuʻuanu Valley with many of our aliʻi and their family members.
Throughout her life, Princess Abigail was a strong advocate for the preservation of Native Hawaiian language, culture and arts. As the eldest granddaughter of Prince David Kawānanakoa, she made it a life mission to support ʻIolani Palace.
