- Note: Seating is limited and on-site in-person registration is required – twenty (20) people maximum. Participants must be at least 16 years old. Signups begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Kīnaʻu Gate on Richards Street. Only workshop attendees are allowed in the classroom.
JOIN US FOR KAMAʻĀINA SUNDAYS IN 2026
Kamaʻāina Sunday | 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
ʻIolani Palace welcomes all residents to Kamaʻāina Sunday when guests can explore the Palace, immerse themselves in Hawaiian culture, taste ‘ono food, support local vendors, enjoy lively entertainment, and more. The free event is held on the second Sunday of every month.
Self-led audio tours will be available for the first 500 attendees. A valid Hawaiʻi State ID, Hawaiʻi driver’s license, or proof of Hawaiʻi residency is required for each complimentary ticket. One complimentary ticket per Hawaiʻi resident. Kamaʻāina are encouraged to come early!

Kamaʻāina Sunday’s entertainment and workshops are supported by Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority through the Kūkulu Ola Program.

During the monthly event, kamaʻāina can take advantage of free audio tours of ʻIolani Palace, presentations, and activities. Each event will be themed around a topic highlighting a different aspect of Hawaiian culture.

PLAN YOUR VISIT
- Richard Street gate at ‘Iolani Palace will open at 8:30 a.m. on Kamaʻāina Sundays with activities and tours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Free parking is available at the Civic Center Municipal Parking Garage (entrance on S. Beretania Street) and metered street parking is also free. Paid parking is available at Aliʻi Place on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the fee is $.50 / half hour, with a maximum charge of $3. No parking will be allowed on ʻIolani Palace grounds.
- Guests will visit the first and second floors of ʻIolani Palace, which includes the staterooms and private quarters of the royal monarchs.
