Fashion Fit for Royalty Tour
NEW SPECIALTY TOUR
Garments worn by the alii seamlessly integrated Hawaiian culture into European style dress. The Fashion Fit for Royalty specialty tour highlights the wardrobe and jewelry of Hawaiian royalty in the 19th century. Visitors will experience royal fashion at the peak of Hawaiʻi’s monarchy with a closer look at opulent gowns, elegant uniforms, and other precious objects that were worn at formal court occasions.
Guests take a closer look at contemporary pieces that contextualize this significant time in Hawaiʻi’s history, including reproductions of Queen Kapiʻolani’s coronation gown, King Kalākaua’s uniforms, and Queen Liliʻuokalani’s ribbon gown, as well as cultural objects such as royal orders in the Palace’s collection and so much more. The tour takes guests beyond the stanchions throughout the Palace; and the Chamberlain’s Office in the Basement Galleries. Docents will don special dress attire as they grace the Palace Rooms to showcase the historical garments and accessories.
The Fashion Fit for Royalty Tour is available on Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. and costs $77.95 for adults and $51.95 for children (ages 5 to 12). The 60-minute tour is limited to a maximum of 6 guests, who will each receive an exclusive souvenir keepsake.
